The home of Sussex County Cricket Club
Built in 1872, the Hove County Ground has been the home of the historic Sussex County Cricket Club, aka the Sussex Sharks, ever since. It was also the venue where they lifted their first ever County Championship title back in 2003 and where they won their third in 2007. It's also staged the 1999 Cricket World Cup Group A encounter between India and South Africa, two Women's Ashes Test matches and One Day Internationals and various charity fixtures. Although renowned as a cricket ground, the 7,000-capacity venue has also hosted several other sports over the years. Local football teams Brighton United and Brighton Athletic both played there before going bust; the Sussex Lawn Tennis Championship also took residence there during the same era; while in 1948 rugby union teams representing Brighton and Midland Bank took to its green field. Of course, since the millennium the venue has become a popular stop for various major pop and rock acts too. Check out the range of Hove County Ground tickets available on StubHub.
From Elton John to Madness
Elton John has been a regular visitor to the venue also known as the County Cricket Ground, having performed there in 2006 and 2011 and announced a 2019 date as part of his farewell tour. In 2015, Madness brought their nutty brand of ska-pop to the ground; a year later the veteran Welsh singer Tom Jones graced its stage; while in 2018 hugely popular girlband Little Mix chose to kick off their "Summer Hits" tour at the venue. Other notable names to have performed at the ground include British icon Cliff Richard, regular chart-topper Olly Murs, Motown legend Lionel Richie, Australian trio Germein Sisters and X Factor winners Louisa Johnson and Rak-Su. In 2012, the ground staged an official event as part of the London Olympics torch relay, while it's also hosted several fireworks displays in aid of Guy Fawkes Night. Whether you're a fan of cricket, pop music or family-friendly entertainment, the Hove County Ground should have something to appeal.
