The venues pack a big, raucous crowd, but are still intimate enough to feel like a great house party. With plenty of tour dates this summer, there's sure to be a show near you, so get your Hollywood Nights tickets before they sell out.
Trivia
Before forming the tribute band, lead singer Rick Murphy played for several years at the Sands casino in Atlantic City. Rick and his band were so popular that they were tapped to play as the party band for the employees before the casino was torn down. Murphy said it was the only casino that treated them well and they have the honour of being the last band to ever grace the Compass stage at Sands.
Bands/Singers
The New Jersey-based band was formed circa 2008 by lead singer Rick Murphy and booking manager Frank Kielb. The ten-piece band is necessary to provide an authentic Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band experience. In addition to Murphy, there's Chris Uyvari on lead guitar, Roger Mancini on lead guitar and organ, Alec Hay on piano, Andy Mohler on Sax, drummer Matt DeCarlo, bassist Glenn Bird Nichols, and female backing vocals and percussion by Robin Murphy, Krista Reinhardt, Dee Dee Mann, and Courtney Rose.
Breakthrough
Even though he worked hard for decades by playing live as often as he could, Murphy admits that it wasn't until he hit his 40's that he really started to find success as a musician. It was then that he realised he had to be a great businessman as well as a great singer. He teamed up with Frank Kielb Entertainment and even tried his hand as a talent manager for other tribute bands, but he didn't find it satisfying and he missed performing too much. All he knew was that he wanted to play hard rock, and it was Frank who helped him realise that with his energy and raspy voice, he'd be a shoe-in to pay tribute to Bob Seger. Murphy had to go home and soak up as much of Bob Seger's music as he could, given that his influences were more classic rock bands. In the end, however, this perfect match has resulted in one of the most respected and successful tribute bands today.
Hit Albums
While Hollywood Nights doesn't release their own albums, they go all out in covering Seger's biggest hits over the past thirty-five years. 1970s era hits include Katmandu from the album Beautiful Loser, Turn the Page from Back in '72, and Night Moves from the album of the same name. From the 1980s, you'll hear Against the Wind and Like a Rock, each from their respective albums of the same name, the iconic Risky Business soundtrack song Old Time Rock & Roll, and of course Hollywood Nights, both from the album Stranger in Town.
Show Experience
Hollywood Nights consistently gets rave reviews for their attention to detail. The energy and power of Murphy's vocals, mixed with the delicate backing vocals and expert musicians give the fans exactly what they want. No detail is too small to recreate and the band prides itself on delivering the best show possible and letting their fans know how much they love them. Go see Bob Seger live on stage, and if you can't, you should definitely get your Hollywood Nights tickets as soon as possible!
