Explore historic Hatfield House and catch up some punk music
Hatfield House is set in a sprawling country estate on what is known as the Great Park in Hertfordshire. It's been the setting for many a film and you'll probably recognise the manor house if you've seen some of the Batman or Lara Croft film. On the musical front the action every year has centred on the Slam Dunk Festival, which has always provided a nice down to earth dose of punk in this aristocratic setting. So when you're in the area and casting around for something to do, have a look on StubHub and see what's available to buy or sell in the way of Hatfield House tickets.
A spectacular country estate and manor house
Hatfield House offers midweek tours to enthusiasts of the old estates of rural England. This one is certainly as deeply steeped in history as any other. The manor house was originally built by the Chief Minister to King James I, Robert Cecil, who was 1st Earl of Salisbury, one of the most venerable peerages in the United Kingdom. The home is still in the Salisbury family, and is still one of the leading examples of the Jacobean era of architecture in the country. The estate continued carving it illustrious history when it became the youth retreat of King Edward VI and Queen Elizabeth I, both the offspring of Henry VIII. So it's no wonder that the tours of the estate and the grand manor house have drawn many thousands of visitors every year. The gardens are spectacular, and also house many important historical memorials, like the Rhodesian Light Infantry Regimental Association's statue in the grounds, and the only surviving Mk I tank from the Western Front was first housed here, before it was eventually moved to the Bovington Tank Museum. Explore the grounds at your leisure, or book a place on the guided tours with Hatfield House tickets.
The annual venue of the Slam Dunk Festival
Punk music fans know Hatfield House for a completely different reason, of course. It's become the site of the annual Slam Dunk Festival, which every year since is inception has been a showcase of virtually every well-known band on the planet in that particular genre. The big stars arrive for this one, such as NOFX, who've played here on more than one occasion. It's not all heavy music, though - the poppier side of punk has always been given its fair due as well, in the form of artists like Billy Talent. Lesser known bands have also found the opportunity to showcase their skills, so audiences have also been able to see bands like We Are The In Crowd when they were first on the up. If punk music gets your blood pumping, then don't miss this festival - you can get Hatfield House tickets here on StubHub.
