Gary Barlow: Take That star flies solo again to play 40 UK concerts in 2018

The songwriting genius behind Take That, Gary Barlow has operated at the very top of the pop game for more than 20 years...and he shows no sign of giving up his crown just yet. Having stormed The X Factor judging panel with his dry wit, 2013 brought his first full solo album release in 14 years, Since I Saw You Last – and proved that whatever musical peaks he has achieved in the past he's more than capable of matching them today.

Much to the delight of fans, Gary has announced that he will head out a massive UK tour in 2018, with 40 concerts scheduled for the length and breadth of the country. 

Speaking about his choice of venues, Barlow said: "I had such a lot of fun back in 2013 when I played those smaller venues because you’re so much closer to the fans.

"The audience always seem to love the intimacy of it all too. I’m also really looking forward to playing in a couple of cities I’ve never played before as well as getting a chance to meet the fans there."

Gary Barlow: hard to top musical achievements of songwriter supreme  

Few artists today can claim to equal the musical successes of Gary Barlow. He is one of Britain's most successful ever songwriters, having written fourteen number one singles and twenty-four top 10 hits. As a solo artist, he has had three number one singles, six top 10 singles and two number one albums, and has had seventeen top five hits, twelve number one singles and seven number one albums with Take That. He is also a six-time recipient of the Ivor Novello Award and has sold over 45 million records worldwide with Take That and 5 million records as a solo artist.

And while he was a much-loved judge on the X Factor, writing and performing his hits live will always be where his heart lies. Having enjoyed solo success from 1996 with his first album, Open Road, he has gone on to release two more critically acclaimed efforts: 1999's Twelve Months, Eleven Days and Sing, his 2012 mini-album featuring covers and collaborations with Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
