Fleet Foxes Tickets
Formed in 2006, Fleet Foxes is a US indie-folk band from Seattle in Washington State. The group is known for blending Americana and rock-pop with indie music and folk styling, especially in their vocal presentation. The band went on a hiatus in 2013, which lasted for around three years. From the middle of 2016, Fleet Foxes returned to performing, and the members have taken to the road all over North America as well as Europe.
Two of the key members of Fleet Foxes, Robin Pecknold and Skyler Skjelset, met when they attended Lake Washington high school in Kirkland, a suburb of Seattle. Having discovered that they had a mutual liking of musicians such as Neil Young and Bob Dylan, the two youngsters started making their own music together. When they decided to form a band, the two decided the name of The Pineapples was a good idea. However, they soon changed it to Fleet Foxes, once they found that it clashed with the name of another band in the Seattle area. Fleet Foxes: UK festival favourites
The band recorded their first EP in 2006. This demo recording was professionally made, thanks to the work of Phil Ek, who produced it. With a growing number of fans in Seattle, Ek decided to set about recording a full album's worth of material in early 2007, although it would not appear for a while. Largely due to their popularity on social media sites such as MySpace, Fleet Foxes began to attract the attention of Warner Music. In January 2008, they were assigned to Sub Pop, a subsidiary of the major label. Soon afterwards, a second EP, Sun Giant, was able to be released. It was at this time that Fleet Foxes began preparing for some major tours. Live highlights around this time include playing at the prestigious SXSW festival.
It was only after their first major tour in 2008 that Fleet Foxes' eponymous LP finally made it onto the shelves. Performing moderately well in North America, the album was very well received in Europe, particularly in the UK, where the band's use of vocal harmony went down well. The album sold over 200,000 copies in the first six months following its release in Europe.
In 2009, the band put out their second studio album, Helplessness Blues, and it got to number four in the US album charts; their best performing work up to that point. In the UK, where the band continued to enjoy considerable success as a live outfit, the album went on to be a gold-selling work. Fleet Foxes returned in 2016, following a break in their performances and recording schedule. A third studio album was soon announced. Crack-Up was the ensuing LP, which went down well with critics in the UK. For example, the NME and the Independent both rated it as a four-star album.
