A band that should be played at full volume, this pugnacious punk rock outfit made an immediate impact when they released their debut album You're a Woman, I'm a Machine in 2004. Despite their growing profile as one of the most exciting new rock acts on the planet, they announced their untimely split two years later.
After almost a decade of solo projects and silence, the dynamic duo shocked their fan base by uploading a teaser clip to their website in 2014 - as well as announcing a series of live shows in the UK. Be one of the first to hear this brash outfit perform their cult classics and new material live on our shores when you purchase Death from Above 1979 tickets on StubHub UK.
Death from Above 1979 Biography - Back On the Scene After Ten Years!
Canadian bass player Jesse Keeler and vocalist Sebastien Grainger allegedly met at a Sonic Youth concert in the mid-2000s, although they often try to fool journalists that had their first encounter in prison or on a pirate ship. They might not have ever lived together in a funeral home (like they often claim) but they did combine their musical talents to form a blistering duo. Their loud and brash offering saw them signed to Last Gang Records and they looked set for superstardom in the US, UK and Japan upon the release of their eminent single 'Blood On Our Hands'. Their acclaimed debut album You're a Woman and I'm a Machine received prized promotion with an epic performance of the scorching track 'Romantic Rights' on Late Night with Conan O'Brien - but their rise to stardom plummeted when after six years together, the cult punk rock act called it a day.
Their untimely split in 2006 surprised their growing horde of fans and both members went on to embark on solo projects. Grainger released a solo album Yours to Discover and Keeler produced the soundtrack to video game Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired By The Warriors in 2011, a record featuring a host of popular punk artists including LA Riots and Congorock. Although their unaccompanied talents are admirable, all the relevant publications agree the quirky pair are best when making music together. They've just unleashed a wave of new material and their highly anticipated second album The Physical World, including tracks like lead single 'Cheap Talk' and 'Virgins', is set to create shockwaves on the global music scene.
