Lose Yourself in Cymbals Eat Guitars
Success on the indie rock scene depends on organic, authentic talent that forces people to take to notice. Cymbals Eat Guitars learnt how to stand out from the vast array of other Indie rock groups and paved the way with an inventive but genre-loyal sound. Named after a Lou Reed quote describing the sound of The Velvet Underground, Cymbals Eat Guitars pay homage to the bands who came before while experimenting with new directions. Purchase Cymbals Eat Guitars tickets when they become available to experience an integral piece of indie rock's revival.
In support of the band's third studio album, Cymbals Eat Guitars launched an extensive tour in the United States and Europe. The American tour will finish in major venues like the DC9 Nightclub in Washington, D.C, the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn and Brighton Music Hall in Boston. The band then heads to the Garage in London, Circolo Magnolia in Milan, Le Point Ephemere in Paris and the Franz Club in Berlin. Cymbals Eat Guitars tickets can prove difficult to find so act fast when new dates become available.
Co-founder and lead singer Joseph D'Agostino has a number of tattoos on his arms, but the most important to him is a numeric tattoo that reads "1,2,3." The numbers represent the name of a New Jersey punk troupe known as the Green Arrows. D'Agostino named the band with best friend Benjamin High, who died of a heart condition soon after Cymbals Eat Guitars was formed.
D'Agostino and drummer Matthew Miller were friends in high school and formed the band after graduation. The duo recruited the other members of the band through posts on Craigslist. Once formed, the band played live gigs together for two years and self-released the debut album Why There Are Mountains. Lineup changes over the years have made D'Agostino the sole original member, but the band has maintained a cohesive sound through the metamorphosis.
After the first album's release in 2009, notable music publication Pitchfork Media included Cymbals Eat Guitars in the Best New Music of the Year compilation, which includes the best and brightest stars of indie music. Beyond Race Magazine named the band one of the 50 Emerging Artists for that year. Cymbals Eat Guitars went on tour with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and even supported alt-rock superstars The Flaming Lips on a few shows.
The band's second album, 2011's Lenses Alien, received high praise from critics across the board, though a few preferred the debut album. Follow-up album LOSE, released in 2014, was widely considered the band's best work, earning glowing reviews from critics and a strong response from their fan base. Cymbals Eat Guitars seems to improve with age and fans should look forward to future releases.
Cymbals Eat Guitars bring a variety of influences and styles into live performances, melding outside genres into their general indie sound. Some music qualifies as shoegazing, meaning much of the crowd will concentrate on the pacing and rhythms rather than dancing or singing along. The band is best suited for smaller venues, where the show can be as intimate as possible. Buy Cymbals Eat Guitars tickets to experience the cerebral, atmospheric music of indie rock's steadiest bands.
