More than just a pretty face
This stunning English heritage park spans over 55 acres and is graced by two lakes, a river and the impressive 18th-century Clissold House. The house itself is protected under its Grade II listing and underwent considerable restoration in the 2010s with funding provided by the UK’s National Lottery. This proved to be a great investment as the park and house welcome droves of happy visitors every year. The park holds a host of facilities including a bowling green, a skate park, a kids’ playground, sports fields, tennis courts and an all-important café! Terrapins are to be spotted bobbing in the lakes and you may enjoy visiting the animal and bird enclosures. The New River runs close to the main house, which was built for the Quaker and anti-slavery campaigner Jonathan Hoare. The house serves as a popular event venue and is particularly nice to visit during the summer months when the park is at its most splendid. Set in London’s Stoke Newington, the park and Clissold House have played host to many exciting events including massive family firework displays. The house is also a popular choice as a wedding and corporate venue. Just search for Clissold Park tickets to buy with StubHub today.
The popularity of the beautiful Clissold Park in the London Borough of Hackney has led authors, artists and musicians to include the name within their compositions. Both Aphex Twin and Hank Wangford and the Lost Cowboys have featured the park in recordings. Wangford’s popular "Jogging with Jesus" features both the park and lake. Novelist Nick Hornby used Clissold Park as a location in his book "Slam", and it also features in the acclaimed "The Psychology of Time Travel", a novel by Kate Mascarenhas. London-based band The Chap have also used "Clissold Park" as a song title, and it’s not hard to see why! Entertainment fans might also consider tickets for performances at the nearby Hackney Empire theatre, a lively venue that is a mere stone’s throw away from the park. Recent appearances from chart-topping bands and stand-up comedians including the ineffable Jo Brand have been extremely popular.
