Belgium native Edgar Everaert founded the team in 1906. Originally an amateur team comprised of Belgian and French students known as Club Union de Futbol, the team changed to its current name and welcomed a number of native players in 1908. Chivas Guadalajara nabbed 13 amateur championships before deciding to enter the professional circuit in 1943. It took them 13 years as a pro team to win their first championship, but in 1956, the team began its domination of Mexican soccer known as el campeonisimo. The team won seven titles during the nine-year period beginning in 1956. During the 1970s, the team experienced its worst losses but reemerged as a powerhouse in the 1980s, making it to the finals in both the 1982-83 and 1983-84 seasons. They won the title in 1986-87. The 1990s went in a similar fashion with the team making the finals three times but only winning the Torneo Verano in 1997.How big is Chivas de Guadalajara's stadium?

Worldwide, soccer fans are renowned for their amazing pre-game celebrations. They tailgate at home games and when they travel to away games, bringing homemade food and alcohol. Another typical component is loud music from stereos the fans bring or from musical guests, such as a mariachi band, or banda. These tailgates exude a family atmosphere despite the drinking. Estadio Akron, like most Mexican stadiums, has few food vendors, so fans eat before the game typically at a nearby restaurant such as Outback Steakhouse or The Cheesecake Factory.Back to TopEpic events and incredible deals straight to your inbox.
