The state of the art Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas is the home of the Arkansas Razorbacks men's and women's basketball and as such really springs to life during the college hoops season. The building originally opened back in 1993 as a replacement for Barnhill Arena. Basketball is the main draw at the gym and every year the Arkansas Razorbacks go up against several of the top programs in the country as they look to make their way to the top of the SEC conference standings. This year the Arkansas Razorbacks are seeking to make a return to prominence and the NCAA Tournament. Each year the main attraction at Bud Walton Arena is Arkansas Razorbacks men's and women's basketball games which pack the arena with loud and excitable fans. The Arkansas Razorbacks always have games against several of the best college hoops teams in the country including SEC rivals like the Kentucky Wildcats, the Florida Gators, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Auburn Tigers, the Vanderbilt Commodores, the Tennessee Volunteers, the LSU Tigers, the Ole Miss Rebels, and others. Aside from basketball, Bud Walton Arena also hosts a variety of other school events along with concerts and other major local events in the Fayetteville area.
Little Rock, Arkansas
Fayetteville is located not far from Little Rock which is not only the capital of Arkansas but is also the largest city in the state and as such offers plenty to do for residents and tourists alike. There are several museums to visit in the area including the Museum of Discovery, the William J. Clinton Presidential Center, the Arkansas Art Center, and more. If you are in Little Rock at the right time of year be sure to check out Wildwood Park for the Arts which hosts festivals and other cultural events and is the biggest park devoted to the performing arts in the South. Riverfront Park located alongside the Arkansas River is also a must see and is home to Riverfest, an annual music festival that is one of the most popular events in Little Rock each year.

Trivia
The arena is named after James Walton, the co-founder of Wal-Mart whose nickname is Bud. Walton donated 15 million dollars to fund the construction of a new arena for the university. Wal-Mart's headquarters are in nearby Bentonville.
