Brandy Clark: a country girl beginning
Before Brandy Clark got nominated at the 2015 Grammy Awards for "Best New Artist", she was one of those typical country girls who love pop country music. Her affinity for traditional music was influenced by her family, just like how many little girls sing whatever plays in their homes. At nine years old she picked out her own guitar and began singing at her school – so far, so good. And, just like most kids with talent, Brandy temporarily left music to pursue college. Yet passion never dies, and she found herself going back to music after several years. She started taking lessons, joined a band, and secured a job related to her passion. That opened opportunities for her critically acclaimed musical career when it led to her eventual record deal. She started out as a songwriter before proving herself an exceptional performer, and her songs continuously touch the hearts of music lovers. The song appeared on Miranda Lambert’s album "Four the Record", but its success didn’t stop in 2011 – instead, it earned Brandy nominations for "Song of the Year" category at the 47th Annual CMA Awards broadcast and at the 4th Annual American Country Awards in 2013. This was followed by her success in co-writing with Trevor Rosen and McAnally when "Better Dig Two" topped the charts. She also worked with Marty Stuart for her first Grand Ole Opry performance in 2012, and released a self-titled EP that include her highly commended song "Stripes". Chosen by CMT as one of the "Women of Country" in 2013, Brandy performed "Stripes" to make her CBS network debut on "The Late Show with David Letterman".
