Slippery Business at the F1 Belgium
A favourite on the calendar for fans and drivers alike, the Belgian Grand Prix is as unpredictable as it is exciting. Highly dubious weather conditions and a sublimely scenic setting make for an increasingly popular race where anyone could cross the finish line in first place! Make sure you're first to buy or sell your F1 Belgium tickets via StubHub and join in the racing action now.
A circuit for freaks of speed
The Belgian Grand Prix was first held in 1925 at the incredibly fast, nine-mile-long Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, located in the eastern Belgium region of Ardennes, an area of the country that has been related to motor racing since its very early years. The race was dominated by Italian driver Antonio Ascari, who was even able to take the time to quench his thirst and have a snack during a pit stop. Sadly, this iconic driver, who raced alongside Enzo Ferrari, died in a crash during his next race at the French Grand Prix. Prior to this inaugural grand prix, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps was only used for motorcycle racing since its construction in 1921. It also held a 24-hour endurance competition, following the success of the 24 Heures du Mans in France. The Spa 24 Hours debuted in 1924 at the original circuit, before it was shortened to its present 7 kilometres in 1979. Frenchman Alain Prost won the first Belgian Grand Prix at the shortened track in 1983, which was now even faster and more thrilling for fans and its drivers. Unpredictable racing makes for the best racing!
The Belgian grand prix is notorious for its dubious weather conditions. At one point in time, for twenty years on the trot it rained during the race. On most occasions, drivers speed their way through a bright, sunny and clear part of the course while having to navigate across another section that is dull, wet and slippery. Just make sure you camp out at the bright and sunny end to watch the action-packed race unfold! Known for his unparalleled skills in wet weather, Michael Schumacher has been top of the podium for the most times, with a total of 6 wins. Although, with 5-time British Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton hot on his record-breaking tail, it might not be long before he catches up with the German racing legend! This exhilarating grand prix brings out the best in the top drivers from across the world, and you can see them live, with F1 Belgium tickets now ready to buy and sell through StubHub.
