With only a drum machine and electronic organ typically included for accompaniment, there are still subtle shifts from previous work to be detected throughout - from the pleasantly uplifting shoegaze of the record's first single 'Sparks' to the surprising bass guitar focus on 'Space Song'. There's a lot to enjoy on Depression Cherry, thanks to this careful balance of familiarity with old releases and evolution to newer ideals. Beach House Biography - Baltimore Band Bloom

This dream pop duo formed in Baltimore, Maryland in 2004 when singer Victoria Legrand moved from New York. It was within the city's thriving music scene that she met guitarist Alex Scally and the pair begun to write songs together. They quickly attracted a local following and the pair were signed to Carpark Records, releasing an eponymous debut album in 2006. Second LP Devotion grew their audience further still, but it was 2010's Teen Dream on Sub Pop Records that truly earned them a place in the spotlight, with Legrand's ethereal vocals and Scally's understated guitar combining perfectly on tracks like 'Zebra' and 'Take Care'. When Bloom came out in 2012 and reached number seven in the US Billboard 200 and broke the top 20 in the UK, the band realised their hazy, nostalgia-filled pop music connected to far more fans than the niche crowds of their formative years. 2015 album Depression Cherry could see them go stratospheric.
