From sci-fi dramas to SXSW
Guildford-based Annabel Allum first caught national attention with her debut E.P., Absent, in 2015. A year later, she released her first single, Tricks, penned tracks for and starred in sci-fi teen drama Spaceship and signed to Killing Moon Records, the indie label responsible for acts such as Man Without Country, Racing Glaciers and Sons & Lovers. The singer-songwriter soon began to receive strong support from online publications such as DIY, Fader and The Line of Best Fit, as well as radio DJs including Tom Robinson, Melita Dennett and Huw Stephens, and in 2017, she was invited to support Gossip vocalist Beth Ditto on her solo tour across the UK. Allum also opened for the likes of Mercury Prize nominee Nadine Shah and indie rock trio Blaenavon and graced the stages of The Great Escape, SXSW and Live at Leeds before headlining her own sell-out show at London's Camden Assembly. Following further festival slots at Reading, Boardmasters and Neverworld, Allum headed out for her first solo UK tour and released the acclaimed E.P., Sorry I'm Not Perceptible. Natural charisma, intense vocals, raw energy
With her natural charisma, intense vocal delivery and raw energy, Annabel Allum is one of those artists who proves to be even more captivating on stage than they are on record. Often joined by bassist Liam Corneloues and drummer Emma Hiley, the singer-songwriter commands her audience's attention throughout, with even the biggest social media addicts willing to respect Allum's phone ban during the set's more intimate moments. Fans should look forward to hearing all the highlights from her E.P.s, We Have Not Yet Panned Out, All That for What and Sorry I'm Not Perceptible, including the singles Rich Backgrounds, Fear Naught and Beat the Birds, the latter of which once featured as the BBC Music Introducing Track of the Week. Having opened for numerous high-profile acts and appeared at several major festivals, Allum has grown into a confident performer who's also entirely at ease interacting with her crowd.
