Innovative indie-popsters The xx's quiet revolution continues with a special series of outdoor concerts this summer. Taking
place at unusual locations in London, Berlin and Lisbon, the Night + Day 2013 shows will feature eclectic bills of artists
displaying the exciting diversity of the modern music scene.
After playing at Berlin's abandoned fairground Spreepark on 18 May, the trio will make their triumphant return to London
at Hatfield House on 22 June. The bill for this special show already includes Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles, rising rockers
Polica, electro duo Mount Kimbie and mysterious musical maverick Kindness. Meanwhile, Jamie xx, Sampha and Benji B will keep
the crowds moving with DJ sets between the bands throughout the day.
Since winning the Mercury prize for their self-titled debut album in 2010, The xx have been hailed as one of the most boundary-pushing
groups of their generation. Hitting Number One with their second effort Coexist last year only served to underline
their importance - and The xx tickets have never been more in demand as a result. So don't miss out!
Alumni of London's Elliot School - the birthplace of other amazing artists such as Burial and Hot Chip - the band was formed
by Oliver Sim and Romy Madley-Croft when they were just 15-years-old. Guitarist Baria Qureshi joined in 2005 when the group
began to play live but left the band in 2009. Hyped due to its adept mix of urban and indie influences, their self-titled
debut left critics floored as they zoomed toward their mainstream breakthrough moment: winning the 2010 Mercury Prize. Refusing
to rest on their laurels, the threesome returned with chart-topping follow-up Coexist in 2012, evolving their minimalist
aesthetic and growing their fan base further. Keen to avoid the arena-rock treadmill, their approach to live performance sees
them choose unusual locations as hosting grounds, as typified by The xx Night + Day gigs.
