The Wedding Present Biography - Rising from the Ashes of The Lost Pandas

Formed in Leeds, The Wedding Present originally began as the remnants of frontman David Gedge's former band The Lost Pandas. Their firstself-financed singles achieved success on the independent charts which was largely helped by a celebrity fan in the form of Radio 1 DJ John Peel. In 1986 he called the band in to do some radio sessions, which marked the start of a long partnership. Part of the popular guitar-heavy C86 scene of the time, they eventually signed to RCA with a contract that still allowed Gedge and his band to work on their own terms. It was with their help that the band released their first Top 40 single, 'Kennedy'.

After many line up changes and a sabbatical between 1997 and 2004, the rock band returned with a more mature sound that still deals with familiar themes of love, lust and revenge. Taking inspiration from legendary rock bands including the Buzzcocks, The Wedding Present tickets are still being sought after all over the UK and beyond.
