The Wailers Biography - Reggae Legends
These reggae icons first appeared after Neville Livingston
and Bob Marley received instrumental tuition from Peter Tosh in 1963. Marley eventually continued the group on his own, taking
up the lead vocals and enlisting the remaining members as a backing band. Throughout the '70s, the group enjoyed runaway success
as part of the burgeoning reggae scene, scoring hits with tracks like 'No Woman, No Cry' and 'Could You Be Loved'. Although
the inspirational Marley passed away in 1981, his backing group have continued releasing albums and touring. The group's defining
sound has seen them sell over 250 million albums internationally and score seven Top 10 UK entries. One of the foremost acts
in their genre, they've collaborated with luminaries such as Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana and Jason Mraz, while keeping their
signature sound firmly intact.
