Inspired by Oasis' huge gigs at Knebworth at the height of '90s Britpop, singer Joel Stoker and guitarist Lucas Crowther put the group together in 2003. The college friends quickly enlisted top musicians from other local bands in and around Chingford and started to make a name for themselves on the London circuit. Indie label Blow Up Records put out their debut single 'Peace & Quiet' in 2005, while the quartet crashed the Top 100 on the singles chart with their next release 'When I'm Alone'.
Soon the band were amassing a dedicated following including the likes of Paul Weller, who went to play occasional guest spots with the band. Over the following years albums such as No Love Lost and Great Escape steadily built the five-piece's audience, to the point that by 2008 they were able to sell out the capital's famous O2 Academy Brixton.
