Along with Alex Lifeson on guitar and Neil Peart on drums, Geddy Lee of Rush was the first rock musician to be awarded the Officer of the Order of Canada in 1996. Exceeded only by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Rush albums hold third place for consecutively reaching gold or platinum sales figures. Geddy Lee's high register vocals were once criticised by a Rolling Stone critic who drew a comparison to the cartoon character Donald Duck.
