        Rush - Hard Rock Influence

Canadian hard rock band Rush started performing in Toronto bars in 1968. Four decades later, they continue to produce music for a devoted fan base. With an impressive collection of 24 gold records, 14 platinum records and three multi-platinum albums, these award-winning icons of rock have influenced a younger generation of hard rock bands.

As the vocals, bass and keyboard player of Rush, Geddy Lee's style and technique has been attributed to inspiring greats such as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Dream Theatre. Purchase Rush tickets under the assurance of our FanProtect Guarantee and see the musical behemoths perform their rock anthems live.

Rush Biography - Awards, Accolades and Giving Back

Along with Alex Lifeson on guitar and Neil Peart on drums, Geddy Lee of Rush was the first rock musician to be awarded the Officer of the Order of Canada in 1996. Exceeded only by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Rush albums hold third place for consecutively reaching gold or platinum sales figures. Unsurprisingly, a staggering excess of 25 million Rush albums have sold in the US. The largest audience to witness a Rush live performance was in Sao Paulo, Brazil; 60,000 fans converged on the city to see an astounding performance of songs from their 2002 album Vapor Trails.

When they're not producing their next award-winning album or touring the world to perform at a series of packed venues, Rush dedicates their time to philanthropic causes. They donated $100,000 to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in 2008, auctioned their equipment and autographs to raise money for Grapes for Humanity and contributed to Songs for Tibet, a compilation single to support Tibet and the Dalai Lama. Rush also made a cameo appearance in the 2009 comedy I Love You, Man, sating fans of Geddy Lee's 'bass-slapping' talents and comedy alike.

Geddy Lee's high register vocals were once criticised by a Rolling Stone critic who drew a comparison to the cartoon character Donald Duck. Over the decades he has been more favourably compared to hard rock singers such as Robert Plant, lead singer of Led Zeppelin.
