Mumford and Sons Biography - Gentlemen of the Road
Formed by the eponymous Marcus Mumford in 2007, this London quartet cut their teeth playing gigs in the West of the capital.
Earmarked as rising stars alongside the likes of Laura Marling and Noah and the Whale, they were soon attracting attention
from national audiences and industry figures. Fuelled by word-of-mouth buzz, their 2010 album Sigh No More became a
trans-Atlantic phenomenon, selling over one million copies on both sides of the pond. Opting to forego traditional tours in
the wake of its success, they next gigged across the US on a train and set up their own travelling UK festival, before releasing
their sophomore LP Babel in 2012. Catapulting them into the global musical stratosphere, the album has already notched
up a Grammy Award and racked up multi-million sales.
