Massive Attack Biography - Wild Bunch to Dominant Dance Act
Originally built around multi-talented quartet of Robert '3D' Del Naja, Grant 'Daddy G' Marshall, Andy 'Mushroom' Vowles
and Adrian 'Tricky' Thawes, the group's roots are in the 1980s rave scene, when they were part of the Wild Bunch party collective.
MA was originally formed as a side project, combining a range of genres - principally downtempo hip-hop and soul - to conjure
a sound all of their own. Released in 1991, their debut album Blue Lines not only established them on the charts but
has since been heralded one of the most important and influential British albums of all time. The LP spawned perhaps their
best-known song, 'Unfinished Sympathy', which won a plethora of awards and made the band's name all around the world thanks
to its impassioned vocal track and iconic video. Follow-up Protection hit shelves in 1994, while 1998's Mezzanine
spawned another huge hit for the group, 'Teardrop'. Regularly used as soundtrack and theme music in TV and films due to its
claustrophobic instrumentation, it has remained a constant musical presence ever since its release.
Although the notoriously fractious group have experienced numerous line-up changes and periods of inactivity, they remain
a huge live draw whenever they make their grand return to the stage. Experience their unique show for yourself by purchasing
