Jeff Dunham Biography – Ventriloquist and Stand-Up Comedian
Hooked on ventriloquism by the tender age of eight, Jeff Dunham has done all in his power to make the art publicly known.
Starting out in his hometown of Dallas, Texas, the American stand-up comedian borrowed a book on ventriloquism from his local
library, setting out to be the best in his field. It was only a matter of time before Jeff Dunham was a familiar sight at
the Vent Haven ConVENTion, sweeping its competitions. His success was so great that organisers felt compelled to proclaim
Dunham a ‘retired champion’ so that new talents would dare compete.
Jeff Dunham had his big break performing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He appeared on the show doing stand-up
with one of his longest serving companions, Walter, a grumpy old man fuelled with vitriol. Usually Jeff Dunham performs with
a set of five, including Walter and regular characters Peanut, Jose Jalapeno, Bubba J and Achmed the Dead Terrorist.
