After surviving the Second World War, this multi-instrumentalist became involved in jazz orchestras in his home city of
Bremen. He eventually secured a job with Polydor Records, where he was hired as an arranger for big artists on the label such
as Lolita and Freddy Quinn. However, he would soon strike out on his own. A prolific release schedule in the 1960s - putting
out an amazing 52 LPs between 1967 and 1968 - acted as a springboard for his undoubted talent. Meanwhile, his work in other
areas of the media, such as presenting his own TV programmes and appearing on numerous film soundtracks, confirmed his celebrity
status. Despite his huge body of work and world renown, he's only scored two chart singles in the UK - 'The Seduction' and
'Biscaya'. However, in more recent years he's been exposed to a whole new generation of listeners after appearing on the soundtrack
to Kill Bill: Vol 1.
Still performing at large venues around the UK, including The Royal Albert Hall, and across Europe, the grandeur of his
