Gotye Biography - Independently Successful
Independently releasing three studio albums featuring his distinctive stamp of synth-filled vocals, Gotye's early works
include the experimental piece, Boardface. Writing the track list and colouring each sleeve insert by hand, the second
Gotye album of 2006 Like Drawing Blood references the continuous struggle Gotye experienced in recording music. Sending
copies to every music production company in the Australian phonebook Gotye began to work with Danny Rogers, manager of The Temper Trap, and the Gotye discography soon grew
to include Mixed Blood and Making Mirrors.
Gotye had to wait until 2011 to enjoy his first taste of major success in the UK and central Europe with 'Somebody I Used
to Know'. Gotye uberfans Ashton Kutcher and Lily Allen endorsed the track via Twitter, it eventually reaching 8x platinum
status at number one - the track is now synonymous with critical acclaim. Going on to become the best-selling single in music
history in The Netherlands, Gotye's international appeal and song-writing ability is as evident as ever.
