A natural showman, Francesco Stephen Castelluccio was born on 3 May, 1934, the son of a barber. Inspired by the great Sinatra
he decided early in life to become a professional singer. Changing his name to the shorter and sassier moniker Frankie Valley
he released his first single 'My Mother's Eyes' in 1953. Performing under different monikers for some years, he founded the
Four Lovers in 1956. Experiencing rapid changes to the line up and struggling to find their audience, the group eventually
opted to change their sound and image.
Their success wasn't immediate, but in 1962 the foursome finally had their breakthrough with single 'Sherry', showing off
their frontman's astonishing falsetto. From that date an onwards the four-piece was invincible and until 1964 only the Beach
Boys could compete with them in terms of record sales and popularity. Branching out, Valli recorded single 'Can't Take My
Eyes Off You', written by fellow band member Bob Gaudio, on the side. It proved to be an enormous hit and the singer's burgeoning
solo career really took off.
Together with his 'Seasons', this iconic star has gone on to sell over 175 million records worldwide. Hear all the classics
