Bobby Womack Biography - Bravest Man in the Universe
This bestselling vocalist grew up in
Cleveland, Ohio, the third of five brothers with a minister and musician as a father. The boys showed a great aptitude for
music and soon formed The Womack Brothers band, touring the Southern gospel circuit accompanied by their parents. The third
Womack brother became a lead vocalist in the group, offering a gruff baritone vocal to pit against the smooth tenor of his
brother Curtis. The group were signed by SAR records and began recording a distinct brand of pop music with less gospel influence,
changing their name to The Valentinos.
After establishing himself as a solo artist, Bobby garnered great critical success
and a huge fan base off tracks like 'Woman's Gotta Have It', 'Harry Hippie' and 'Lookin for Love'. He has gone on to produce
27 hit albums plus countless hit songs for other solo artists, earning a Grammy for his work on Gorillaz track 'Stylo' in
2011. Don't miss out on the chance to see this iconic singer-songwriter performing live - buy Bobby Womack tickets on StubHub
