Musical duo Best Coast are starting to make a name for themselves in the pop world with their fresh brand of surf-pop inspired music. It would take Bethany Cosentino a few attempts before she would be ready to form Best Coast with Bobb Bruno. A former child actress, Bethany started songwriting during her teenage years and attracted a large online following. Despite being courted by entertainment heavy-hitters, she turned down offers to be a pop princess for major labels as she was not yet ready to embrace fame. In fact, it was not until she moved back to LA in 2009 that she formed Best Coast with Bobb. After a number of small releases the two signed to Mexican Summer Records and started work on a debut album.
Since then the band has established a strong repertoire, the Best Coast discography including a collaboration between Bethany and Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij on a summer single for Converse. What's more, a West Side Story-inspired video for the Best Coast song 'Our Deal' was directed by Drew Barrymore, lending the band supportive star power.
Best Coast songs such as 'Boyfriend' and 'The Only Place' off of the 2012 album of the same name have quickly become indie-pop favourites, earning heavy radio rotation.
