Arctic Monkeys Biography - Pub Band to Global
After befriending each other at school, Alex Turner and his friends formed this luminary rock group in the
early 00s. After paying their dues on the local pub and club circuit, the band garnered interest from local radio stations
and music press - particularly after being invited to perform on the Carling Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals. After signing
to record label Domino in 2005 the band released debut single 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' to commercial and critical
acclaim. The hit track beat Robbie Williams and Sugababes to the top spot in the UK singles chart and their debut album achieved
similar success. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not became the fastest selling debut album in UK chart history
and another 4 Number 1 albums later, the group are still enjoying incredible success.
Now hailed as the UK's top rock
band, they boys are set to play Finsbury Park in 2014. Alex Turner's husky tones and impressive lyrical skills have kept the
group on top of the UK albums chart and their mesmerising stage presence continues to make this group a global must-see rock
