Aida was composed by Guiseppe Verdi in the 19th century for the then recently opened Cairo Opera House. Aida
was first staged in Europe at the Scala in Milan and has been resurrected many times since, a testament to its lasting appeal

The core of Aida's storyline centres upon a love triangle between an Ethiopian slave, its title character, captain
of the guards Radames and Amneris, daughter of the Egyptian pharaoh. Though Amneris is enamoured with Radames, his heart belongs
to Aida. Aida, meanwhile, is torn between her loyalty to her father, the king of Ethiopia, and her love for Radames, who fights
for the Egyptians. These messy affairs come to a head backed by a soaring operatic score and an unforgettable final act that
