AEGON International Matches - Game, Set and Match!
Held at the
picturesque Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club, just yards from the sunny Sussex coast, this annual outdoor tournament forms
part of the both the WTA and ATP tours after merging with men's tournament the Nottingham Open in 2009. This means that while
there have only been a handful of male winners - including American star Andy Roddick and Frenchman Michael Llodra - the women's
roll-call goes all the way back to the tournament's inception in 1974. Over that period, a galaxy of stars of the ladies'
game have risen to prominence on its courts, perhaps none more so than Martina Navratilova, who won an amazing 10 titles out
of 12 between 1982 and 1993. Meanwhile, household names of the sport such as Caroline Wozniacki and Justine Henin have been
among the victors over the past decade.
